The Samchillian Tip Tip Tip Cheeepeeeee is a electronic musical instrument that operates by relative instead of absolute pitch. The player makes the choice of what interval away from the last note the next played note will be. This approach brings new possibilities in musical phrasings and speeds. Also, microtonal scales fit in naturally. It changes the way one thinks about playing.
Even though the Samchillian Tip Tip Tip Cheeepeeeee port to Linux died a long time ago, it was resurrected with the advent of OS X. And now it even kinda works. Leon Gruenbaum got back from being on tour in Europe playing live shows with version 1.0 and no-one was seriously hurt. Thank goodness.
Leon, the inventor, plays Samchillian with Vernon Reid and with his own music projects including Genes and Machines. For news, discussion and tidbits from musicians using Samchillian, see

The Samchillian’s main window is minimalist — it mimics the LCD display in the original embedded XT implementation.
