  • OpenAustralia HackFest 2009

I had the pleasure of attending the first collaborative volunteer get-together for OpenAustralia, an open source website project which provides a view on the record of debate in Australian Parliament. The nice people at Google in Sydney provided us with a great space to meet, discuss and experiment. Kudos to them.

  • Notable: Millennium Actress

An animated film released in the US in 2001. No armored exoskeletons or post-nuclear Neo-Tokyo here; rather a story of the life and love of a reclusive movie actress, presented quite cleverly with great visuals. If you like Studio Ghibli’s output this is probably of interest to you.

  • Harper’s Magazine

The best on-the-can, er, coffee table reading around. If leaning to the left makes you feel ill watch out though. http://www.harpers.org

  • Foreign Affairs

http://www.foreignaffairs.org/ Good stuff from the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). The periodical is highly recommended. Armchair economists of the world unite!

  • Pinball Emulators

http://www.futurepinball.com/ I miss the old days of pinball machines. There’s something visceral about them that got lost when everything went to video.
